FDMT Celebrating Fire Prevention Week

Fire Prevention Week runs Oct. 9 to Oct. 15

Fire Department of Montgomery Township is gearing up for National Fire Prevention Week, starting today.

This year’s theme is “Protect Your Family From Fire.”

From Oct. 10 to Oct. 14, an educational display on fire prevention will be at the Montgomery Township administration building lobby.

“The firefighters will be around the township during that week, conducting fire drills, fire safety inspections, and providing fire prevention books at schools, day care centers, health care facilities throughout the month of October,” said township manager Larry Gregan.

FDMT will hold an open house Oct. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its on DeKalb Pike and Montgomery Avenue.

“We are certainly looking for residents to come out and view equipment, see the training that they go through in order to provide fire protection to the township,” Gregan said.

FDMT’s open house also features hands-on fire prevention activities, live demonstrations, moon bounce, food and refreshments, and a home escape simulator trailer.
