Five Charged with Suspicion of DUI

Lansdale Police released information on five DUI arrests this month

issued a press release with information pertaining to five incidents where suspects were arrested and charged with suspicion of DUI.

On Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 11 a.m., police arrested Michael Huckin, 55, of the 3100 block of Markle Road, Norristown, for suspicion of DUI, police said.

Police responded to a two-vehicle accident at Hancock and Broad streets at the above date and time.

Huckin was one of the drivers involved in the accident, police said.

Police detected an odor of alcohol coming from Huckin, police said, and he was subsequently arrested.

Charges were filed Jan. 27 when the results of a blood test revealed a .13 percent BAC, police said.

A hearing is pending before District Judge Harold Borek.

In a second incident, police arrested Gordon Merrill, 28, of the unit block of W. Main Street, Lansdale, for suspicion of DUI on Jan. 5 at 1 a.m.

Police said charges were filed Jan. 29 when results of his blood test revealed PCP in his system.

On Jan. 5, at 1 a.m., police saw a red Volkswagen traveling with no lights on in the 300 block of S. Broad Street, police said. Merrill was the driver, police said.

He exhibited slow, lethargic movements and had dilated pupils as the officer spoke with him, police said.

A hearing is pending before District Judge Harold Borek in Lansdale.

In a third incident, police arrested John K. Lowe, 53, of the 600 block of Green Street, Upper Gwynedd, on Jan. 5 at 1:20 a.m.

Charges were filed on Jan. 30 when the results of a blood test revealed a .15 percent BAC level, police said.

On Jan. 5 at 1:20 a.m., police saw a red Ford F-150 back out of a parking lot at Broad and Hancock streets at a high rate of speed, police said.

The driver, identified as Lowe, was seen speeding southbound on Broad Street to Park Drive, police said.

Officers were able to stop Lowe as he attempted to back into a parking space behind his home, police said.

An odor of alcohol was coming from Lowe, police said, and he was subsequently arrested for suspicion of DUI.

A hearing is pending before District Justice Harold Borek in Lansdale.

In the fourth incident, police arrested Dora Connelly, 37, of the 800 block of Pleasant Hill Drive, Wallingford, on suspicion of DUI on Jan. 15.

Charges were filed Jan. 20 when results of a breath test revealed a .11 percent BAC, police said.

On Jan. 15, at 1:35 a.m., police saw a silver Honda CR-V make an illegal left turn onto Main Street from Walnut Street, police said.

Police found an odor of alcohol coming from Connelly, the driver of the vehicle, police said.

A hearing is pending before District Judge Harold Borek.

In the fifth incident, police arrested James Mullin, 43, of the 500 block of Willow Lane, Montgomery Township, for suspicion of DUI on Jan. 26.

A marijuana pipe was foud with some of Mullin's personal belongings, police said.

Mullin's driver's license was also suspended, police said.

Mullin has been charged and a hearing is pending, police said.

Police said Mullin was also on parole from the state, police said. A detainer was filed against him by that office, police said, and he was taken to Montgomery County Correctional Facility as a result of the detainer.

On Jan. 26, at 9:50 p.m., police began to respond to a hit and run accident on South Broad Street at Hector Alley, when an officer saw a gold Nissan Maxima with fresh damage in the parking lot of the at Main and Broad streets, police said.

Two males and a female were present at the vehicle when an officer approached them, police said.

All three initially denied driving at the time of the accident; the driver was subsequently identified as Mullin, police said.

Police detected an odor of alcohol on Mullin, and he was subsequently arrested, police said.
