A former Sellersville Fire Co. member and a probationary member of the fire company have been arrested and charged with arson and additional criminal offenses in a Wednesday fire of an abandoned factory in Sellersville Borough.
Cody Wagenseller, 18, of Parkridge Drive, Perkasie, and Adam Keith Weaver, 19, of Ridge Avenue, Sellersville, were arrested and charged with multiple counts, including arson and criminal conspiracy to commit arson, after allegedly admitting their involvement in setting the fire, Perkasie Borough Police said.
Additional charges are pending, as the investigation continues, police said.
Weaver is a former member of the Sellersville Fire Company and Wagenseller is currently a probationary member of the company, police said.
On Wednesday, an abandoned factory at Lawn and Maple avenues was set on fire, police said. During the blaze, 16 fire departments from Bucks and Montgomery counties responded to assist Sellersville Fire Co. in the structure fire.
More than 200 fire and public safety personnel responded to the scene, police said.
Police said multiple floors of the building were affected and the fire seemed suspicious.
No firefighters were injured in the blaze.
Fire officials do not have an estimated value of damage to the building.
Police said a timely lead was investigated by Perkasie Police, Pennridge Regional Police Department and the Sellersville Fire Company.
The investigation is continuing, in conjunction with the Bucks County Fire Marshal's Office, area fire departments, the canine unit of the Allentown Fire Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police, police said.
Perkaise Police said the staff and leadership of Sellersville Fire Company are both angered and deeply disappointed in the alleged misconduct of Weaver and Wagenseller.
Sellersville Fire Co. staff and leadership would like the public to understand that the actions of these young adults do not represent the longstanding record of excellence by the Sellersville Fire Co.
