Gas Leak at Montgomery Commons Shopping Center Under Investigation

Montgomery Township’s fire marshal is investigating an underground gas leak and fire at the Montgomery Commons shopping center, according to reports.

Emergency responders were called to the scene around 10 p.m. Wednesday after a business owner noticed flickering lights, NBC10 reported.

Responders detected an odor of natural gas; thermal imaging cameras showed an underground fire, according to The Reporter. Crews worked through the night to repair the leak, which NBC10 reported was "large."

The cause of the leak is under investigation, according to NBC10. No injuries were reported.

Officials told The Reporter that repairs should be complete by late Thursday morning.

The Montgomery Commons shopping center is located on Welsh Road and includes Redner's Warehouse Market and JoAnn Fabrics.
