Montgomeryville-Lansdale Patch Readers Help Nab Alleged Retail Thief

An Asian man allegedly stole $190 of clothing from the Montgomery Mall department store on Christmas Eve.

Montgomery Township Police said Friday evening the alleged retail thief has been identified thanks to numerous tips from Patch readers.

"We put out a press release in reference to a retail theft at Macy's earlier (Friday). Because of (Patch's) posting on it, the subject has been positively identified and I appreciate everyone that contacted us with the information," said Lt. Gerry Dougherty of Montgomery Township Police.

Police has not released the name or accompanying charges of the alleged thief.

Montgomery Township Police are seeking the public's help in identifying an Asian man who allegedly stole $190 of merchandise from Macy's at Montgomery Mall on Christmas Eve.

Police said the retail theft occurred at 3:40 p.m. 

The individual fled on foot with clothing valued in excess of $190, police said.
