'I'm the Greatest Mom Around': Woman Charged for DUI With Kids In Car Responds

A Lansdale woman who police say drove drunk to a liquor store and left her two children unattended in the car has taken to social media to defend herself.

A Lansdale woman who is facing numerous charges after police say she drove drunk to a liquor store and left her two children unattended in the car has taken to social media to defend herself.

In various expletive-laden comments on Lansdale Patch, Amy Dooney has responded to critics who weighed in after the story was posted Thursday. Dooney said she made one mistake and is “the greatest mom around."

“F--- YOU ALL, the media blew everything up…it’s like the kids were there for hours it was 2 mins (sic) with the air on…Thanks!!,” Dooney wrote to a commenter who suggested she go to jail for the incident.

Dooney, 31, has been charged with leaving her children unattended in a vehicle, DUI, endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person, among other charges, in connection with the July 12 incident. 

“Sorry buddy always a first for everything…I’m a clear a-- chick who made one mistake in her life,” Dooney said to another critic who suggested she undergo treatment.

Police told The Reporter that they were called to the state store on Valley Forge Road in Towamencin Saturday around 8:45 p.m. for a report of children left unattended in a parked car.

Dooney, who police said smelled of alcohol, came to the car with her unattended children inside shortly after officers arrived on the scene. She admitted that she had consumed a few drinks before driving with her 3-year-old and 7-year-old children, police told The Reporter.

According to reports, field tests showed Dooeny had a blood alcohol level of .15 percent, which is almost twice the legal limit. Her preliminary hearing is July 23 in front of District Judge Harold Borek.
