Lansdale Dad Drove Drunk With Three Kids Without Car Seats, Police Say

Richard John Carickhoff, 44, of Michael Way, is facing 11 charges in connection with an incident that happened July 17.

A Lansdale man who police say was drunk while driving his three young children around without car seats is facing charges, Towamencin Police said. 

Richard John Carickhoff, 44, of Michael Way, is facing 11 charges in connection with an incident that happened July 17, court documents show. 

According to court documents, Carickhoff has been charged with DUI, three counts each of endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person, three charges in connection with having no car seats or child restraint systems in the car and careless driving.

Towamencin police told The Reporter that they were notified around 5 p.m. on July 17 that a red Audi was driving erratically. When officers located the car, being driving by Carickhoff, he appeared intoxicated and none of his children, ages 3 to 8, were in car seats, according to The Reporter.

Bail was set at 10 percent of $10,000. A family member posted the $1,000 bail Monday, court documents show.

Carickhoff is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing July 31 in front of District Judge. Harold D. Borek
