Lansdale Man Admits to Being Serial Public Masturbator

Gerald Boyce, 41, of the 600 block of Wissahickon Avenue, pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Court to numerous misdemeanor indecent exposure charges where he publicly masturbated in view of young girls and women in Lansdale

A Lansdale man who publicly masturbated on purpose in view of young girls and women — and who was finally nabbed masturbating in broad daylight outside his truck in the lot of Lansdale Train Station — admitted to his crimes in Montgomery County Court Wednesday.

Gerald F. Boyce Jr., 41, of the 600 block of Wissahickon Avenue, pleaded guilty to numerous counts of indecent exposure that occurred between June 2011 and May 2012 throughout Lansdale Borough, according to Carl Hessler of Pottstown Mercury.

Boyce, who was charged with attempted rape in Philadelphia in 2000, committed five public masturbation incidents wherein eight of the 10 victims were underage. Boyce has a criminal history of indecent exposure and corruption of minors, according to court records.

He told Duffy he could not talk to her about what he had done because he would lose custody of his daughter, according to the court affidavit.

Boyce also asked if he would be placed on the Pennsylvania Megan's Law.

Boyce was nabbed outside a black 2009 Ford F-150 extended cab pickup truck with a tan stripe in the rear lot of Lansdale train station, the same description vehicle given by victims to police in prior incidents. He was caught by plainclothes Officer Patrick McKernan on May 14.

While being interviewed by Duffy on May 14, Boyce did not deny involvement in the incidents.

Boyce was originally charged with 29 misdemeanor counts and one summary count: six counts of first-degree indecent exposure, four counts of second-degree indecent exposure, eight counts of corruption of minors, six counts of open lewdness and six counts of summary disorderly conduct, according to a court affidavit.

Charges were amended at his preliminary hearing in May 2012.

Boyce had the following charges against him during his trial:

  • Three first-degree counts of misdemeanor indecent exposure
  • Two second-degree counts of misdemeanor indecent exposure
  • Eight first-degree counts of misdemeanor corruption of minors
  • Five third-degree counts of misdemeanor open lewdness
  • Five counts of disorderly conduct of an obscene nature
  • Five counts of disorderly conduct of a hazardous nature

Boyce was represented by attorney James Lyons of Maple Glen.

Boyce was charged by Philadelphia Police in June 2000 with attempted rape, sexual assault and corruption of minors, as well as additional charges.

Furthermore, Boyce Jr. was charged in 1999 by Philadelphia Police with indecent exposure and open lewdness.

He was also found guilty in 1997 of indecent exposure, open lewdness and corruption of a minor.

A charge of indecent exposure was dropped at a January 2001 preliminary hearing in Philadelphia Municipal Court by Judge Glynnis Hill for the June 2000 case, according to court records.

Philadelphia County prosecutors eventually dropped the charges of attempted rape, sexual assault, unlawful restraint, recklessly endangering another person and harassment in July 2002 during a dispostion, according to Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas records.

Boyce did plead guilty to indecent assault, corrpution of a minor and simple assault, according to court records.
