Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle Tuesday Morning

The accident occurred at 6:21 a.m. at the intersection of Sumneytown Pike and Forty Foot Road.

A Lansdale man was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Sumneytown Pike and Forty Foot Road shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday morning.

According to a press release, the preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle driven by Michael Darcy, 58, of Harleysville, was traveling southbound on Forty Foot Road when  it attempted to make a right-hand turn onto westbound Sumneytown Pike and struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk.

The victim, identified as John Longo, 68, of Lansdale, was taken by ambulance to Abington Memorial Hospital for treatment.

At the time of the incident, it was dark outside and fog conditions were present, the release states.  The accident remains under investigation by the Towamencin Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit.
