Towamencin Man Killed in Overnight Crash

The accident took place in Salford Township Tuesday morning on Route 563. Ryan Petrille, 21, was killed in the crash.

An Upper Gwynedd man was killed early Tuesday morning in a one-vehicle crash in Salford Township, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Police said Ryan Alexander Petrille, 21, was a passenger in a 2000 Honda Civic being driven by Sean Christopher Sperl, also 21, on Route 563 shortly after midnight.

According to police, Sperl, of Lansdale, was traveling at a "high rate of speed" and "failed to negotiate a curve" in the road. The car struck a utility pole and was torn in half, ejecting Petrille from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the Montgomery County Coroner's office.

Sperl is being treated for injuries sustained in the crash. An investigation is ongoing, police said.
