Upon arrival, police found a silver Ford Taurus sedan stopped first in line on South Valley Forge Road at West Main Street, with a line of cars behind him, police said.

They found Adams allegedly seated in the driver's seat with his head resting against the headrest and his eyes closed, police said.

As a precaution, police parked a patrol car in front of the Taurus.

Upon approach, police  noticed the windows were up and the doors were locked. The vehicle was in drive and Adams's foot was on the brake, police said.

Several attempts were made to awake Adams, police said.

Eventually, Adams woke and, disoriented and confused, lifted his foot off the brake and traveled forward, striking the back of the police car, police said.

After repeated commands, police said, Adams put the window down, allowing officers to remove him from the car.

Police found an odor of alcohol on Adams's breath, police said.

Witnesses reported that they followed Adams into the borough along Valley Forge Road from Sumneytown Pike, and watched his car travel into oncoming traffic, nearly hitting oncoming vehicles, police said.

They also told police that when Adams stopped, he failed to proceed through several cycles of green lights, police said.
