Man Hospitalized After Bedroom Fire at Parkside Manor Apartments

Careless smoking was the cause of a Monday night fire, according to Fairmount Fire Co. official.

One man was hospitalized following an apartment fire at Parkside Manor Apartments Monday night.

At 10:35 p.m., the Fairmount Fire Company responded to a fire call at the apartment complex, located at 319 Whites Road in Lansdale. Upon entry, fire crews encountered a small fire in the apartment's bedroom.

According to Roger Pancoast, first assistant chief and president of Fairmount Fire Company, the fire was a result of careless smoking.

Pancoast said that there was no structural damage to the building, but there was some minor property damage, including damage to a mattress and some towels.

The male tenant was taken to Lansdale Hospital by Volunteer Medical Service Corps (VMSC) of Lansdale for observation. VMSC responded to the scene for advanced life support, according to the Breaking News Network.

A female tenant was unharmed.

Initial reports stated the fire was in Apartment D-1. The fire was knocked down in about 15 minutes.
