UPDATE: Camper Returning to Variety Club Friday

A child suffered a seizure while swimming and nearly drowned Tuesday

According to Jeff Jubelirer, communications representative for Variety Club Camp in Worcester, the camper is fine and returning to camp either Thursday or Friday.

A young boy is recovering at a local hospital following a seizure in a swimming pool at Variety Club Camp in Worcester Tuesday afternoon.

According to Angus Murray, managing director of Variety Club Camp and Development Center on Potshop Road, the child is a camper, and he suffers from seizures.

"The boy had a seizure in the pool and had to be rescued," Murray said.

Murray said the hospital was running tests on him to make sure he is OK.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. Tuesday.
