No Injuries in School Bus Accident on Monday

A Ford F-250 hit a First Student school bus carrying private school students Monday afternoon on Knapp Road

No students from a private school in Fort Washington were injured following a school bus accident on the 600 block of Knapp Road Monday afternoon.

said the parents of all students were notified of the accident by First Student.

A 1993 Ford F-250, driven by Souderton resident David Pillay, 33, of Franklin Street, crossed into the eastbound lane of Knapp Road, striking the driver's side of the school bus, police said.

The First Student school bus was negotiating a curve in the eastbound lane of Knapp Road when the truck, which was westbound toward the curve, continued straight and crossed into the other lane, police said.

The corner of the the truck struck the school bus on the driver's side, police said.

Pillay told police his truck locked up as he approached the curve, which was wet from recent rainfall, police said.

The bus had children ranging in age from eight to 12 years old, and it was coming from a private school in Fort Washington, police said.
