Overnight manhunt in Hatfield, Lansdale

Suspicious vehicle impounded

Update October 24: Police Robert Copeland, 39, in the theft of the maroon Chrysler 300M that was taken from the manhunt scene on Saturday morning.

Police from Hatfield, Lansdale, Towamencin, and Upper Gwynedd converged on the border of Hatfield and Lansdale early Saturday morning in pursuit of an unidentified suspect.

At about 2:00am, several police cars surrounded an unoccupied maroon Chrysler sedan at the junction of Squirrel Lane and Koffel Road.

Officers on foot with flashlights patrolled the area in the vicinity of for about 75 minutes. A helicopter joined the search at one point.

Police at the scene declined to provide a description of the suspect or any information on the incident that led to the pursuit.

County radio reports indicated that groceries in an Acme bag were found in the Chrysler, which was impounded and towed from the scene.

At about 3:30am, police were seen outside the Acme market on W. Main Street. It's believed they wanted to review video surveilance footage from the store, which was closed at that time.
