Philadelphia Man Identified as Lansdale Pawn Shop Robber: Police

Lansdale Police believe they have identified the man who allegedly robbed the Lansdale Pawn Shop at riflepoint on May 7, 2013.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Philadelphia resident Ja'Kwan Emarcus Gardner, of the 5900 block of North Fourth Street, police said Monday.
Gardner is charged with first-degree and third-degree felony robbery, felony theft, felony receiving stolen property, possessing an instrument of crime, reckless endangerment, terroristic threats and simple assault, police said.
At 11:14 a.m. May 7, 2013, police responded to the North Broad Street pawn shop for a reported armed robbery, police said.
The owner of the pawn shop and one customer reported that a black man had fled the store on foot prior to police arrival, police said.
Police said the alleged robber entered the store and handed over a note demanding cash and gold. Police said the man had a long duffel bag and kept his hand inside the bag.
The owner told police he saw a long barrel pointed at him, which he believed was a rifle, police said.
The owner handed over $600 cash and $28,000 in jewelry, police said.
Police said the owner of Lansdale Pawn Shop recalled a suspicious transaction several days earlier involving two individuals, one of which was allegedly Gardner.
Gardner, at that time, had looked at one specific case, which was the case that the owner was ordered to empty the day of the robbery, police said.
Gardner was made a suspect after police reviewed surveillance footage and digital records, police said. It was discovered Gardner had purchased a shotgun the month before the alleged robbery.
Police have made several attempts to take Gardner into custody, but his whereabouts are unknown.

Gardner had three drug-related charges withdrawn in Municipal Court of Philadelphia County in 2012, per court records.
