Police Investigating Three Home Burglaries

Two homes were burglarized on the 2000 block of Orvilla Road and one on Line Lexington Road

Hatfield Township Police detectives are investigating three residential burglaries that occurred in the areas of Line Lexington Road, East Orvilla Road and Merel Road since January.

All burglaries took place during the day and involved a suspect or suspects forcing open a door to gain entry into the home, according to Detective Keith Bell of Hatfield Township Police.

Police said once inside, the suspect or suspects will remove items easily carried away, such as jewelry and coins.

The first incident occurred on Jan. 28. Police received a report of a burglary at a home on the 2600 block of Line Lexington Road, near Merel Road.

Police said an interior garage door was forced open in order to gain entry into the home.

Assorted jewelry was stolen from a jewelry box located in a bedroom, police said.

The second incident occurred Feb. 21 at a home on the 2700 block of East Orvilla Road, police said.

Police said entry into the home was made by forcing open the front door.

Once inside, the burglar or burglars removed coins and an item of jewelry from a bedroom, police said.

Investigation revealed the burglar(s) may have unsuccessfully attempted entry into another home on the same block. Bell said marks left on the front and rear doors of that home were "inconclusive."

The third incident occurred the next day, Feb. 22, police said.

A home on the 2400 block of East Orvilla Road was burglarized, police said, after entry was made by forcing open a rear door.

Assorted jewelry was stolen from a jewelry box in a bedroom, police said.

Residents in this area of Hatfield Township are encouraged to report any suspicious activity, people or vehicles in the area to police.
