POLICE LOG: Teens Arrested in Assault at North Penn

An 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were charged after they were detained following a fight

An 18-year-old Lansdale high schooler was arrested Feb. 17 and charged with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct, Towamencin Police said, following his involvement in a fight in the hallway of North Penn High School.

Demetrius Anderson, 18, of the unit block of West Fifth Street, was arraigned before District Judge Harold Borek and committed to Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail.

The other student in the fight was a 15-year-old boy from Lansdale, who was charged through Montgomery County Juvenile Court with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct, police said.

At around 7:34 a.m., Feb. 17, Towamencin Police responded to the high school for a reported disturbance, and found two students were detained in the school office.

Police said Anderson and the juvenile were fighting in a hallway, during which another student, who tried to break up the fight, was punched several times and injured. The injured student was treated by the school nurse and transported to Lansdale Hospital.

In other police news, Towamencin Police are investigating the theft of copper from two cellular phone towers on the 1400 block of Delp Drive.

The theft was discovered Feb. 16 at 1:30 p.m. Police said the perpetrator or perpetrators entered the gated area of each tower and removed the copper, valued at $1,200.
