Police Seek Leads in Friday Home Invasion

Montgomery Township home believed to have been targeted. The sole occupant of the home was asleep at the time and was later restrained and assaulted

A Montgomery Township resident was assaulted in their Steeplechase Drive home Friday morning by three black males who confronted them and forced them to assist in the robbery of their own home, Montgomery Township Police said Friday afternoon.

Police were called to the home at about 6:27 a.m. The unidentified victim, who was asleep in an upstairs bedroom when the home invasion began, was the sole occupant of the house at the time.

The victim was led around the residence for the purpose of retrieving money and valuables, police said.  During the home invasion, the victim was restrained and assaulted, police said.

The incident occurred barely half a mile from the headquarters of the Montgomery Township Police Department at the intersection of Horsham and Stump Roads.

Police said their preliminary investigation "reveals" that the residence was targeted.

The three men, who police said were wearing masks, reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle, possibly a red Jeep. Police searched the immediate area but were unable to locate them.

The unidentified victim was taken to Doylestown Hospital for evaluation, police said.
