Man Hides in Costco, Steals $91,000 in Jewelry

The suspect slipped between products under a shelf at closing time and is seen on camera breaking a jewelry display case with a TV

Montgomery Township Police are seeking a suspect in the burglary of Costco Wholesale Warehouse at 740 Upper State Road that occurred in the early morning of Sept. 26.

Police said the suspect hid inside the store until after closing.

Police responded to a burglar alarm at Costco at 12:15 a.m. Sept. 26. Upon arrival, police found a door standing open, police said. A search of the building revealed that a burglary had occurred, police said.

The suspect hid in the store until after closing. According to NBC10, as customers finished shopping, the suspect slipped in between products under a shelf.

The store closed, and he exited his hiding spot and entered the jewelry section of the store, police said.

The suspect smashed the display counter using a 40-inch TV, police said. 

More than $91,000 in jewelry was taken, police said.

The suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The suspect is described as a white male, 25 to 30 years old, 5 feet 10 inches tall, muscular build, with dark hair, police said.

He was wearing all black clothing, black sneakers and a black baseball cap with a "DC" logo on the left front of the hat, police said.
