POLICE: Suspicious Man Flees School Event

Police are searching for a white man in his 60s who approached a female student at General Nash during an outdoor event

If you know a white man in his 60s that drives a blue Pontiac with a Sunoco bumper sticker, then Towamencin Police are interested in talking to him about an incident at General Nash Elementary School.

Police are investigating a suspicious man that accosted an 11-year-old female student during an outdoor event at the school on Friday, May 27.

Police said they responded to the school at 3:20 p.m. to investigate a report of a suspicious person.

According to witnesses, a man was standing outside the school during an event attended by parents and grandparents.

During the event, children were participating in an activity that included the use of spray bottles containing water for cooling off purposes.

The suspicious man approached the girl and asked that she spray him with water, police said.

The man’s intent or actions have not been confirmed.

The student immediately reported the contact with the man to a teacher. School staff located the man and talked to him about his relationship to the school and the event, police said.

The explanation given by the man was not verified as legitimate, police said.

The man said he was there to observe a male student, but school officials could not identify the student, police said.

When school staff questioned him further, the man fled and entered a vehicle, police said.

The vehicle is described as a navy blue Pontiac, possibly a 1990s model, with a Sunoco bumper sticker above the rear license plate, police said.

Police did not specify if a license plate number was obtained.

The man drove out of the parking lot headed west on Liberty Bell Drive.

The man is described as a white male in his 60s, 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet tall, white/gray hair, wearing a gray T-shirt, mid-thigh blue shorts and a red baseball cap, police said.
