Sentencing Hearing Granted for Former Vice Principal Convicted for Improper Conduct with Two Students

Charles Hurst, 39, of Montgomery Township, was formerly the vice principal at Pennbrook Middle School. A Superior Court judge ruled Hurst could have a new sentencing hearing, resulting in a lesser prison term.

A former Pennbrook Middle School vice principal convicted of doing improper things with two male students and sentenced to 30 to 60 months in Waymart, Wayne County state prison gets a new sentencing hearing that could result in a lesser jail sentence.

According to Carl Hessler Jr., Charles Daniel Hurst, 39, formerly of Somerset Court, Montgomery Township, could get a 22-and-a-half-month sentence instead, now that the Pennsylvania Superior Court ruled in favor of Hurst.

The court ruled that Hurst should have been given eligibility for the Recidivism Risk Reduction Incentive program; as a non-violent offender, Hurst would be allowed to have his sentence reduced as long as he successfully completes counseling and upholds a good conduct in prison.
