Six of 20 Remaining Suspects in Meth Ring Have Hearings Today

Remaining 14 suspects will have preliminary hearings on June 6

A "big player"  - Francesco "Frank" Messina of Hatfield Township - is one of six suspects scheduled for a preliminary hearing today at 10:45 before District Judge Andrea Duffy in Montgomeryville.

The remaining 14 either have hearings moved to June 6 at 10 a.m. or are inactive cases at this time.

One suspect - Dan Ells, of 225 East Second Street, Apt. B in Lansdale - is the only one with a hearing scheduled on a different date from the other suspects: May 29 at 11:15 a.m.

Ells is represented by Thomas Egan III of Norristown, according to court papers.

Here are the suspects and respective attorneys scheduled for hearings today at 10:45 before Duffy, according to court dockets found on the Pennsylvania Unified Judicial System Webportal.

  • Francesco “Frank” Messina, 719 Schwab Road, Hatfield Township. (Messina was employed at Cosmo Motors on Blaine Street in Lansdale ). Represented by Sean Cullen of Norristown.

  • Joel Jay Payumo, aka Marissa Devine, (male), 251 E. Thompson St., Philadelphia. Represented by Anthony Stefanski of Philadelphia.

  • John J. Welsh III, 1150 Schwab Road, Hatfield Township. Represented by Kevin Zlock of Langhorne

  • Donald L Preston, 72 Roboda Boulevard, Upper Providence Township. Represented by Daniel McGarrigle of Philadelphia

  • Ryan Burns, 804 Marlbrook Lane, Upper Gwynedd (Madison at Willowyck). Represented by Basil David Beck of Norristown.

  • Keith Chasteen, 251 E. Thompson St., Philadelphia. Represented by Anthony Stefanski of Philadelphia 

The Penna brothers - other "big players" of the operation, - each had a private surety posted in the amount of $10,000 by their father, attorney Dominic Penna, on May 2 and remain free on bail, according to court records.

  • James Trull, 1447 Old Skippack Road, Upper Salford Township. Represented by Christopher Mullaney of Red Hill.

  • Juan M. Encarnacion, 3921 N. 6th St. Philadelphia. No attorney listed.

  • Joseph “Phoenix” Croxton, 1734 Tasker St., Floor 1, Philadelphia. Represented by P. Joseph Nicola of Westmont, NJ.

  • John Griffith, 1626 Sheffield Drive, Whitpain Township. Represented by Martin Mullaney of Skippack.

  • Ronald Krauss, 10 South Towamencin Ave., Lansdale (owner of Bad Ronald's Custom Tattooing in Lansdale). Represented by Vincent Vangrossi of Norristown.

  • Jamie L. Hamburg, 27 Lincoln Ave. Floor 2, Lansdale. Represented by Vincent Vangrossi of Norristown.

Three suspects have cases listed as "inactive" in the Pennsylvania Unified Judicial System:

  • Timothy Beck, 55 Meng Road, Limerick Township
  • Kevin Saldutti, 1415 East Hewson St., Philadelphia

  • Judy Cress, 913 Township Line Road, Phoenixville

One suspect has no criminal docket filed in the Pennsylvania Unified Judicial System: Antonio Encarnacion Perales, 1002 N. Marshall St. 2nd floor, Philadelphia.
