Suspicious Bottle Destroyed Outside North Penn High School

The Montgomery County Bomb Squad pierced and destroyed the bottle via pellet gun Wednesday morning.

A suspicous bottle containing an unidentified liquid and materials locked down North Penn High School during first period Wednesday morning before it was eventually destroyed by the Montgomery County Bomb Squad.

According to Towamencin Township Police, a suspicious water bottle with its cap taped shut, containing a liquid and a solid material, was found behind the Towamencin school at the maintenance area behind a parked school security vehicle.

School staff members moved the bottle from behind the vehicle prior to police arrival, police said.

High school security notified Towamencin Township Police, who involved the county bomb squad, Towamencin Volunteer Fire Company and the Montgomery County Hazardous Materials Unit, according to police. 

"The bottle was further investigated, the situation resolved and students are safe," said a message from the North Penn School District via the school messenger system.

County bomb squad officers pierced and destroyed the bottle using a pellet gun, according to the report.

Students were delayed in first period by six minutes during the investigation. The school was not evacuated, police said, as the threat was outside.

The contents of the bottle are being investigated by the Montgomery County Department of Public Safety Hazardous Materials Unit.
