Nine ounces of suspected marijuana were seized by police following surveillance at Broadmore Apartments in Lansdale

Nine ounces of marijuana, hash, drug paraphernalia and $1,800 were seized by Lansdale Police in an apartment in Lansdale following an investigation of alleged drug dealing by a 19-year-old man.

The investigation included surveillance and controlled buys of marijuana from Olsen at his apartment, police said.

On August 16, a search warrant was granted by District Judge Harold Borek, and was served on Olsen's apartment the next day by Lansdale and Montgomery Township officers, police said.

Seized was nine ounces of marijuana, suspected hash, more than $1,800 in cash, a digital scale, grinders, rolling papers, bongs and plastic baggies, police said.

Olsen was charged with the following:

  • Felony Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance
  • Misdemeanor Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • Misdemeanor Possession with Intent to Use Drug Paraphernalia

Olsen was arraigned August 17 before District Judge Harry Nesbitt of Horsham and bail was set at 10 percent of $25,000 cash, according to court records.

Olsen was taken to Montgomery County Prison in lieu of bail, police said.

Olsen posted $2,500 bail on August 18, according to prison records.

A preliminary hearing is set for August 27 at 10:45 a.m. before Nesbitt, according to court records.

Nice Job police, keep cleaning up our town. How can a 19 year old come up with $25,000 cash for bail in a day? Maybe the judge could be more concerned about the Borough and set bail at a level where a 19 year old has to sit in jail a little bit longer and think about his crimes rather than get out and split town or worse get started again making money.

$25,000 for weed? get out of here...
ColeHamels21 August 21, 2012 at 01:00 AM
jethro, marijuana is a medical drug. there has been 0 deaths in america from marijuana. alcohal does ten times the damage to your body than marijuana. alcohal is the cause of more than 150,000 deaths a year. weed isnt the probem. ignorant and uneducated people like you are. how about you go comment on a dui case where a man kills a whole family because of a car accident. i smoke weed and the only crime i do is eat food and watch TV. Selling weed is not a big deal for the fact that it doesnt destroy peoples lives. selling cocain, heroin, meth, and perscription drugs in general that creates an addiction and causes people to die is a crime. The U.S is in debt over 17 trillion dollars. Marijuana is a 60 billion dollar cash crop in 5 states combined in the U.S. If Marijuana was legalized it would be a 600 billion dollar plus cash business. please just do yourself a favor and dont make yourself look like and idiot

yeah thats how our system works the drug dealers with the killers... makes NO sense... not that what he did was good but you can just blame our popular culture now a days and society as a whole... it should just be legalized at this point so we can worry about education and coming up as a whole #americasuckslately

Jethro... Bail is set at 10% of 25,000 Thats 2500.00 in cash Maybe you should be more concerned with learning how to read. Its clearly a typo nitwit.
A lansdale resident August 21, 2012 at 01:11 PM
Yeah...I don't believe that. Unless he is the one dealing to everyones dealer...which would be crazy because he is only 19 years old! But hey it could happen!
tommy o August 21, 2012 at 05:03 PM
when they gonna legalize this shit?

If they, [law enforcement], spent half of their energy and efforts that they put into marijuana busts into finding rapists, murderers, and hard-drug abusers and dealers, then yes, lansdale WOULD be a cleaner and better town. Marijuana is not the problem is this town, nor any other town. Like ColeHamels21 said, it is a multi-billion dollar business, and there are way worse things in our town than this. I give zero credit to Montgomery county and lansdale pd to this because they should be spending their time and our money on things that ACTUALLY protect us residents. Quit taking the easy way out, or the "easy-bust out", and go catch a coke or heroin dealer. Thanks for spending our State Tax dollars on this absolute non-threat to the people...pardon my grammar

Greg Olsen has been a good friend to me since kindergarten, we basically grew up together. He doesn't deserve this shit for dealing happiness in a bag. The FDA will approve of prescription medicines with side effects of stroke, depression, heart attack, Pulmonary Embolism, seizures, suicidal thoughts, and even death. The ban a plant that has been proven to help with many problems people face today. This country is becoming more and more messed up by the day. Keep your head up Greg, your friends are thinking of you.

Mr Grinch...no typo. Everybody is just high and clearly didn't see it says "Olsen was arraigned August 17 before District Judge Harry Nesbitt of Horsham and bail was set at 10 percent of $25,000 cash, Olsen posted $2,500 bail on August 18". LOL!!!

THANK YOU.. bout time someone set that straight. People are so concerned about judging others that they fail to recognize their own issues-- and yes, jumping to conclusions & failing to properly read a sentence is, in fact, a problem -- particularly when judgement comes thereafter. I also would like to agree with a previous poster in regards to the harmlessness of Marijuana. Sure, drugs are problematic & with drugs comes crime, etc., but marijuana is actually quite peaceful and positive, and certainly shouldn't be classified as a "drug," Rather, simply, it should be considered only that which it is, a medicinal herb. With proper research, anyone who isn't entirely ignorant, would realize that Marijuana is one of the greatest gifts we've been given... a true Blessing from God himself. Cannabis is so versatile, if utilized to its full capacity, we could save this evermore-violent & scary world. Truly. You wanna help society? Then recognize our Earth-bound saving grace, MARIJUANA, and help to educate those of whom have yet to have that inevitable epiphany. Yes, I'm entirely serious. As serious as serious gets. For anyone whom lacks the knowledge and understanding of the THOUSANDS of benefits from utilization of Cannabis, do please reply and leave your email address. I am happy to spend my time enlightening anyone whom truly cares to remove their blinders and expand their horizons. If not, well, then, shame on you, because YOU are preventing peace & harmony on Earth.

I don't know him, but surely we all know someone who has been through this... it's always the same story, and a shameful one at that. You are so very right, this country, even the world at large, is rapidly depreciating in just about every imaginable way. Our government is ever-draining society of that which is in our best interest, while continuing to manipulate us into consuming that which allows them to control us, that which they are also largely monetizing, thereby allowing them to forever remain in control.. or so they think, and hope. Of course, if the many citizens of this FREE COUNTRY, like us, would take a stand, together, as one (while it's still free) against these damaging acts, including but hardly limited to: The World's biggest drug ring: Pharmaceutical America, the filling of (FULL) jails with non-violent citizens (such as pot charges) ((that OUR taxes are supporting, mind you, thus seeming that WE should have a say)), the corrupt regulations of the FDA, or rather, the lack thereof, which is seemingly run politically, rather than ethically, certainly making these "approved" chemicals & substances questionable (See: ASPERTAME), etc. The prior mentioned issues, among countless others, all come back to money. We are allowing GREED to run this country, and consequently, causing MONEY to run everyone's lives-- except those of us who are not the elitist are stressed and burdened by money, while THEY thrive. MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL!
