Towamencin Teen Faces June Arraignment on Felony Robbery, Assault Charges

An 18-year-old Towamencin man who allegedly hit a 24-year-old woman during a robbery in Towamencin in April, and who was caught smoking weed in an apartment complex parking lot in Towamencin on St. Patrick's Day, waived his preliminary hearing on assault, robbery and drug possession charges, according to an article in North Penn Life.

Andrew Kahlil Lewis, of the 600 block of Freedom Circle, had his bail reduced from $300,000 to $99,000 on the assault charge, according to the article. He remains at Montgomery County Prison for a June 20 formal arraignment at 9:30 a.m. at Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas.

During his preliminary hearing before District Judge Harold Borek on May 10, attorney James Lyons negotiated with Towamencin Township Police for a bail reduction on the robbery and assault charges based on time already served, according to the article.

Lyons told The Reproter that his client "clearly has a problem" and his family was looking into substance abuse rehabilitation.

Charges of felony drug possession, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and of marijuana, and a summary offense of purchasing alcohol by a minor from the March 17 drug incident were held for county court

Charges held for county court from the April 12 robbery and assault incident include a felony count of robbery and misdemeanor charges of assault, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

, with the assistance of Montgomery Township Police canine unit, apprehended Lewis at 2 p.m. April 13 in a wooded area between Adams and Rittenhouse roads after he fled from police following the robbery.

Police said Lewis fled when police served an arrest warrant at his home, in connection with his alleged involvement in a robbery and assault of a 24-year-old woman, police said.

On April 12, at 7:46 p.m., Towamencin Police responded to the area of Liberty Bell Drive and Adams Road for a reported robbery.

The victim told police that a man punched her in the face and took $250 cash from her, police said.

Police said the man, known to the victim as “Kahlil,” fled on foot southbound on Liberty Bell Drive.

The victim told police that Lewis lived in the same complex where the incident took place, police said.

The victim had a red swollen area on her face, where Lewis allegedly punched her, police said. The victim declined medical treatment at the scene.

Police identified Lewis as a suspect, and went to his home at 2 p.m. April 13, police said.

When Lewis saw police, he fled on foot, police said. Police set up a perimeter and eventually apprehended Lewis, police said.
