Towamencin Twp. Secretary, Husband in Critical Condition After Motorcycle Accident

Sharon Luma and her husband Tim were ejected from their motorcycle after it was struck by a car driven by a 20-year-old Macungie woman

Sharon Luma, the executive secretary at , and her husband, Timothy, both Quakertown residents, remain in critical condition at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, following a serious two-vehicle accident Saturday evening in Longswamp Township.

A source confirmed Timothy Luma, 49, is in a drug-induced coma due to the severity of his injuries.

A source also confirmed Sharon Luma, 46, has injuries that are "non-recoverable."

According to an article in The Morning Call, the Lumas were riding a motorcycle on State Street near Doe Mountain Lane.

Shortly after 5 p.m., their motorcycle was struck by a car driven by Alexa Nisiotis, 20, of Macungie, according to the article.

Pennsylvania State Police in Reading told The Morning Call that Nisiotis was westbound on State Street, when she lost control and crossed into the eastbound lane, striking the motorcycle.

The Lumas were ejected from the motorcycle, according to the article.

Timothy Luma was flown to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest. Sharon Luma and Nisiotis were taken by ambulance to the hospital, according to the article.

The crash closed State Street from Doe Mountain Lane to Mountain Road for about three hours, the article states.

The township Open Space and Parks Advisory Committee meeting scheduled for tonight has been cancelled.
