Two-Car Accident Sends Six to Hospital

A gray Nissan SUV collided with a small, gray 4-door sedan on Valley Forge Road near Steelman Road in front of Central Schwenkfelder Church Sunday evening, sending six to the hospital for treatment.

Upper Gwynedd Fire Department extricated the driver of the sedan using the Jaws of Life.

Montgomeryville-Lansdale Patch correspondent Keith Heffintrayer witnessed an infant being carried in a blanket to an awaiting Volunteer Medical Service Corps of Lansdale ambulance.

Heffintrayer said a nurse who passed by moments after the collision checked on the occupants of both vehicles.

The nurse told Heffintrayer the occupants of the SUV did not seem injured.

He said the nurse and another driver took a baby out of the sedan and awaited aid from the fire department for the driver. The baby was in a car seat.

Pennsylvania State Police assisted at the scene. A press release would be released this evening, state police said.

Both lanes were open to traffic, directed by state police.
