Upper Gwynedd BP Gas Station Robber At Large

A lone suspect robbed the BP at Sumneytown Pike and Broad Street at gunpoint Thursday night and fled with cash toward Sumneytown Pike

Upper Gwynedd Police are seeking a man who used a handgun to rob the BP gas station at 868 Sumneytown Pike in Upper Gwynedd Thursday at 9:52 p.m.

Police said the suspect entered the store and asked for a pack of Newports.

The clerk opened the register and the man produced a black semi-automatic handgun, police said. He then jumped on the counter and pointed the gun at the clerk, police said.

He then reached into the register and took an undetermined amount of cash. He then left the store and walked toward Sumneytown Pike, police said.

A Montgomery Township K9 tracked the suspect to a nearby parking lot, police said. It is believed the man left from that lot in a vehicle.

The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20s, with a beard and mustache, police said. He was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt with white drawstrings, black pants and black sneakers with light-colored soles and laces.

The Upper Gwynedd Police Department was assisted by Lansdale Borough, Lower Gwynedd Township, Montgomery Township and North Wales Borough police departments.
