Worcester Man Arrested for Giving Police Fake Info

Chong Kim, 47, of Bethel Road, was stopped on DeKalb Pike in Whitpain and allegedly gave police officers a fake name and several wrong birthdates

A Worcester man was arrested by Whitpain Township Police Aug. 2 and charged with giving false identification to police, as well as driving with a suspended license, driving without insurance and failure to follow traffic signs, police said.

Chong Kim, 47, of the 2000 block of Bethel Road, was stopped at 1:30 a.m. after making an illegal left turn out of the Wawa at 1015 DeKalb Pike, police said.

Kim allegedly told police he had no driver's license on him, police said. Kim also allegedly identified himself as Song Un Kim, with a birthdate of Nov. 21, 1968, police said.

PennDOT had no record of that individual, police said.

Kim allegedly gave officers several other dates of birth, which received the same result, police said.

Kim was placed under arrest and charged, police said. He was arraigned and bail was set at $1,000 unsecured, police said.

Kim was taken to Montgomery County Prison for a probation violation, police said.
