The Whitemarsh Police Department is investigating an attempted robbery at the Whitemarsh Giant, located at 10 Ridge Pike, overnight on Jan. 11.
According to police, a Giant employee discovered that the lock of an outside door that led to the Giant basement was damaged, though no entry was made into the store.
The employee said that the lock was pried and bent outward, and that it no longer works as a result.
The cost to fix the lock will be roughly $1,000, according to police.
The employee said that surveillance showed that no subjects were observed in the area of the door between when it was last seen secure and after the lock was damaged.
No suspects have been named in the incident.
