Lansdale Borough Hall Closing Nov. 8, Temporary Hall Opens Nov. 13

Lansdale's municipal complex at 1 Vine St. will be partially demolished to make room for a new combined borough hall and police department.

As Lansdale moves toward a vote in October to award a bid for the partial demolition and renovation of the municipal complex at 1 Vine St., borough administration is preparing for its temporary move to a modular borough hall.
Borough Manager Timi Kirchner last week announced Lansdale Borough Hall would close Nov. 8 and its temporary modular units would open Nov. 13 on Ninth Street off Moyer Road.
Borough council and committees will be meeting in November at the North Penn School District Educational Services Center at Hancock Street and Church Road.
"On Sept. 5, we will start advertising the move to the public with flyers and posters," Kirchner said. "It's my opinion, you will always have somebody that says to you, 'Nobody told me.' So, we will be starting in early September to advertise the fact that we will be moving and telling people where the new location is so they can continue to come into our temporary borough hall to continue to conduct business."
Kirchner said she has been working internally with staff as it relates to the move in November.
"We have been talking about a new approach to customer service and the way the temporary mobile units will be set up," she said. "They will be set up in a similar way to what we are talking about with the new complex. That is, to have a customer service area that will serve more than one at a time, and hopefully, provide them with more privacy than what they are experiencing now."
Kirchner said borough staff is working on how to approach all of that and begin that practice in the interim.
Between Nov. 8 and Nov. 13, borough hall will close on Veterans Day, and there will be an additional day or two to complete the interim move.
"We will certainly be notifying folks and assuring there are dropboxes to drop bills off at the library," Kirchner said. "We are working on all those plans."
Kirchner said things are "on track" for partial demolition to start in November.
"We've been having a number of meetings in borough hall so staff is well informed and we are asking them to help us with what the best approach would be to all that we're doing," she said.
