[VIDEO] Lansdale Councilman Mike Sobel's Comedic Sendoff

Councilman Mike Sobel was voted out of his Ward Two seat in the General Election.

After four years on Lansdale Council—and leading the Public Safety Committee—Mike Sobel said his goodbyes and had his last hurrah at Wednesday's council session.
Like departing Councilmen Matt West and Dan Dunigan, Sobel was awarded comedic gifts from his borough colleagues.
"It is bittersweet in its own way," Sobel said. "One thing that's nice is the personal connections I've made with everybody are still going to be there."
Sobel, a newlywed, said he will still come to meetings, and he may not come right away because he wants to get his life back a little bit.
"The cards fell where the cards fell," Sobel said of Republicans voting him out in Ward Two in the November election. "I hope the new council comes in and does the right thing is my biggest wish."
Sobel said serving as a councilman was one of the best moments of his life.
"I want to express to everybody in Lansdale, it has been one of the true honors and privileges in life to sit up here and do this and I tried to do the best that I can," he said.
Sobel's proudest accomplishment—bringing Lansdale Police Department up to full staff.
The biggest thing ... was to let them have an easier time to do the difficult job that they have. It gave them the staff to do it," he said, citing a 30-percent reduction in violent crime in the borough in 2012 and the department's drug bust of 200 pounds of marijuana, the largest in Montgomery County.
"The biggest thing was to work with them and get them what they needed," he said.
