Lansdale Parks Director Saldutti to Get Lifetime Achievement Award

Carl Saldutti will be the second Lansdale official to receive the distinction, nominated by the public. Fire Marshal Jay Daveler was bestowed the honor by the Founders Day Committee last year.

First, it was beloved Lansdale Borough Fire Marshal and former Fairmount Fire Co. Chief Jay Daveler. Now, another respected official of Lansdale Borough has been nominated to receive a new prestigious annual honor.
Carl Saldutti, Lansdale's parks and recreation director, will be presented a Lifetime Achievement Award this month during the opening ceremonies of Founders Day Aug. 24.
Councilwoman Mary Fuller, who is also president of nonprofit Discover Lansdale, said last week that a separate Lifetime Achievement Award Committee was formed following the inaugural Lifetime Achievement Award bestowment. This committee tallied and awarded Saldutti the honor, based on votes submitted by the public.
The Lifetime Achievement Award Committee is part of Discover Lansdale, which presents Founders Day each year. This committee is chaired by business owner Margie Booz, WNPV 1440AM owner Phil Hunt, St. John's UCC pastor Rev. Sue Bertolette, Lansdale Historical Society president Dick Shearer and Daveler. Fuller served as liaison to the Founders Day Committee of Discover Lansdale.
"For the first time, nominations were open to the public—you can submit online or in person. I'm happy to say there were over 20 nominations made, which I though was awesome in and of itself," Fuller said during her parks and recreation committee report last week.
"When I looked at the nominations, 20 were for the same person. The nominations were not the usual suspects," she said. "They were all over the borough, but they all said the same thing in recognition of one particular person who is near and dear to my heart with what I do in the borough. It's with great and absolute pleasure, I'm proud to announce Carl Saldutti as the recipient this year."
Fuller said she made Saldutti promise to take a little break from the Festival of the Arts (also going on the same day as Founders Day) and come receive the award.
"(The award) shows Carl's dedication to the borough and the parks system and we're excited about that," Fuller said.
Councilman Mike Sobel said the award for Saldutti was "well deserved."
