Montgomery Township Hires Forestry Expert to Battle Emerald Ash Borers

Emerald Ash Borers are expected to arrive in Pennsylvania soon and begin destruction of ash trees over the next four years.

The arrival of Emerald Ash Borers to Montgomery Township is imminent, and supervisors took a precautionary step Monday to protect the township's trees.
According to The Reporter, supervisors hired forestry expert Curtis Eshleman, of Timberlink Consulting in Doylestown, to develop a tree management plan to save the township's ash trees. It is estimated that the insect will destroy about 30 percent of ash trees in Montgomery Township.
The initial plan is to cut down the ash trees now and sell the lumber, using proceeds to plant younger trees, per the article.
