North Penn Commons Project Plan Gets One-Year Extension

The North Penn Commons project will bring Manna on Main Street, The PEAK Center senior center, Advanced Living Communities and Lansdale YMCA under one roof on the old Lans-Bowl site.

A collaboration that looks to bring Manna on Main Street, the Lansdale branch of the North Penn YMCA, Advanced Living Communities (Schwenkfeld Manor, Derstine Run) and The PEAK Center under one roof on the old Lans-Bowl site on East Main Street has asked for, and been granted by Lansdale Borough Council, a second extension on its preliminary and final land development development plans for North Penn Commons.
Council OK'd the one-year extension Wednesday night in an 8-0 vote at its action session. Councilman Jack Hansen was absent from the meeting.
Councilman Rich DiGregorio Jr. asked Wednesday why North Penn Commons was asking for a second extension. He wondered if there were financial problems with the project.
"This is fairly typical on projects of this scope, that they will ask for extensions," said Lansdale Borough Manager Timi Kirchner. "Other projects have done that. There are no problems at this point and time."
North Penn YMCA CEO Bob Gallagher told The Reporter that the extension is to get all land development approvals, like PennDOT permits and financing, in place.
The North Penn YMCA owns the old Lans-Bowl property. The Lansdale branch of the YMCA will be expanded onto the adjacent site.
