Souderton OKs 30-Year, $6K Annual Lease of Train Station

Souderton plans to make $1.5 million in improvements to the freight station, wait station, train station and parking lot. The Local and Logan Model Railroad Club will remain.

Souderton Borough Council this week approved a 30-year lease of the old SEPTA train station, with plans to revitalize and sublease the property to businesses. The station is at present the home of The Local restaurant and the Logan Model Railroad Club.
According to The Souderton Independent, the 30-year lease includes two five-year renewals. Souderton will pay $6,000 a year in rent for the property. On paper, the agreement is $33,000 a year, and the remainder will be calculated as credit for $1.5 million in renovations, per the article.
All current businesses will remain, and a freight building, wait station and parking lot will be renovated.
