Gonna Go Back In Time ... One Night Only
Four beloved Lansdale hardcore bands - Dysphoria, Chine, Inkling and Inane - are reuniting for one show of revolutionary proportions
Marty McFly and Doc Brown (and Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale for that matter) have lied to us.
You don't need a flux capacitor, 88mph or 1.21 gigawatts to go back in time.
It will be proven, here in Lansdale on Friday night at , that all you need is a desire, a passion and a need for local music.

Musician and Quakertown resident Kevin Mooney and Lansdale promoter and West Point resident Derek Calhoun, of Lansdale Local Promotions, have played the roles of Doc Brown and Marty McFly, respectively.
(Of course, those that know Mr. Mooney would think that analogy may have worked better with those long-gone dreadlocks substituting for crazy white hair).

The duo have organized an auditory revival of epic microcosmic proportions.
Friday will see the reunion of four beloved, dedicated and prominent bands from the Lansdale area that dominated the scene since 1993: Dysphoria, Chine, Inkling and Inane.
If you spent your teenage and young adult years in Lansdale, Montgomeryville, Hatfield, North Wales, Horsham, Norristown, Quakertown, (hell, even the Bethlehem and Scranton/Moosic area for all those Scarlet's and Sea Sea's stalwarts) in a decade between 1993 and 2003, those four band names inundated your vernacular.
"This is definitely something I never thought would happen. Still tough to believe until we play our last song," said Mooney, who plays bass in Chine. "This is something I've tried to do for probably the past five years or so, but life just gets in the way. Getting all these 30-plus-year-olds in these bands on a date they all can do was quite a challenging feat."
The word "hardcore" is a cliched adjective thrown around whenever one goes about talking about these bands, but, then again, is there a better way to describe them?
They are vitriolic, brutal, loud, enticing, entertaining, radical, pioneering - everything you want in a band. They weren't grunge. They weren't new wave. They weren't some poor excuse of the revived ashes of hair metal.
For many, they were - and are - exactly what you want to hear.
They are our veracious vanguards.
And in less than 36 hours, at 7:30 p.m. (and for the amazing low price of $10 - it's a steal!), they will be the reason for a revolutionary spectacle that has never been experienced in the heart of the North Penn area.
"Having Chine finally get their last show, and to do it with Inkling and Dysphoria, couldn't be any more perfect. It would have been neat to write and record a few new songs too, but again life is very busy," Mooney said. "Playing these old songs now is probably more fun now than it was then. I guess I appreciate it more."
Benjamin Disraeli wrote that "The legacy of heroes is the memory of a great name and the inheritance of a great example."
Without these four bands, the scene today in the North Penn region wouldn't be as indelible or visionary.
Now ... if only I could squeeze my fat ass into these Jncos.
