Letter: Cruise Night Co-Organizer Gives Big Thanks to All

The second-annual event, sponsored by Discover Lansdale, raised $1,250 for Manna on Main Street

I would like to give a big THANKS to everyone that came out to help make the Lansdale Cruise Night another great borough event that Lansdale can be proud of and an enjoyable fundraising event for Manna on Main Street. With perfect weather on hand the streets of Lansdale was a rolling car show. A large variety of vehicles cruised back and forth through town while onlookers filled the sidewalk benches.

Some further THANKS to the Borough of Lansdale, the Lansdale Police Department, Discover Lansdale and especially all of the Lansdale area businesses that gave in some form in support of the cruise.

And a final THANKS to my co-organizers Debbie Henning, Ray Liberto and Tara McNally, along with a handful of other people that helped out. And thanks to DJ David Kratz of K-Ratz Entertainment and the band ‘Etheracide’ for donating their time and talent.

With over a hundred cars registered, sales of event t-shirts, a 50/50 raffle, a Grand Raffle Basket of over $1,500.00 worth of gift certificates & items donated by Lansdale area businesses and the auctioning of a shirt signed by all participants, which sold for an amazing $125, I am proud to say we were able to exceed our expectations and raised $1,250 for Manna on Main Street and collected several box full’s of donated food items.

The Lansdale Cruise Night is a little different from the typical cruise night. It is not just a parking lot with a bunch of nice cars sitting around all evening while people stroll around looking at them.

During our night, you can sit and watch, hear and smell the cars go by, glistening under the street lights; you can drive, like a parade, reliving the old Lansdale cruise route; you can stop for a slice of pizza or a drink while admiring the cars parked along the route.

It’s an evening of good old fashion fun for a good cause.

At the end of the evening, we had fun special awards that we handed out which included things like, Best Antenna Ball, Best Work in Progress, Most Likely To Get Pulled Over, Best Hood Ornament, along with several others. We already received some good suggestions to add for next year.

I am sorry if you missed it this year but I hope you can join us next year.

Thanks,

Bill Henning
