Manna Community Food Drive Looks to Collect 24,000 Food Items

The food pantry and soup kitchen food drive this week looks to stock the pantry for one month.

In one week, Manna on Main Street and its supporters look to collect enough food to stock its pantry for one month during the Community Food Drive going on this week.

The food drive began Sunday, according to Kristyn Didominick of Manna on Main Street. Its goal is to feed those in need during a time when the organization's food pantry shelves are running low, she said.

By Sunday, food drive "captains" had picked up food drive kits, each containing details on the food drive, a list of critical foods needed and grocery bags for donations.

On the morning of Aug. 17, each captain will pick up the donations from their neighbors and bring them to the food pantry by 2 p.m.

About 24,000 food items will keep Manna's shelves stocked for one month.
