If residents and businesses can document damage due to Hurricane Sandy, then permit fees will be waived. The township still requires necessary paperwork in order to document the damages in the zoning and planning office
Montgomery Township has approved some charity for township residents and businesses affected by Hurricane Sandy. In a 4-0-1 vote, supervisors Monday approved the waiving of permit fees associated with building permit applications for repairs associated with damage from the storm. "Any business or resident that comes in and can document to our department that damage sustained to their property was due to the storm that recently went through, this would give us the authority to waive the permit fee for the work to be completed," said zoning director Bruce Shoupe. "It doesn't waive the requirement for getting them to fill out the proper paperwork so we can document it. There's still a need for the permit and we have to go through the process …

At Lansdale Borough Council's work session Wednesday, no department was off limits in being thanked and commended for its response before, during and after Hurricane Sandy. A special reception honoring staff is set for Nov. 28 at 6 p.m.
No department in the Borough of Lansdale was overlooked Wednesday night as councilmembers thanked and commended those who prepared before, and responded during and after, Hurricane Sandy. Chief Robert McDyre told the public safety committee Wednesday that the police department weathered the storm very well. He said eight officers were assigned to each of the three shifts. If the police had 19 officers instead of 24, it might have been worse. "We were overwhelmed with calls," McDyre said. "If we had four or six officers, it would have been terrible." Public Safety Committee Chairman Mike Sobel said the police were very busy during the storm. As with every other department, you all did a fantastic job. Thanks needs to go out to members of …

Each and every department under Lansdale Borough was fully staffed and had what they needed to respond to issues during Hurricane Sandy
Lansdale Fire Marshal sat down at the conference table inside Lansdale Borough Manager Timi Kirchner's office on Wednesday morning, and pulled out a stack of event logs from a folder. On one side of each piece of paper were rows filled in with various times, addresses and descriptions of incidents that occurred from the onset of Hurricane Sandy Monday afternoon — 87 incidents in all. Aside from calls coming into borough hall directly, numerous calls were from the county 911 system and Lansdale Police dispatch. Those 87 calls do no include the 17 pages of logged fire calls that Fairmount Fire Company responded to in the 14-hour period that Lansdale's Emergency Operations Center was in operation during the storm, from 4:30 p.m. Monday to 6:…
