West Main Diner in Lansdale hosted 13th Congressional District GOP candidate Joe Rooney and Sen. Bob Mensch to a special Lansdale Republican Club meet-and-greet event Monday night

As Republicans ready for the pop political venue known as the Republican National Convention, Joe Rooney readied himself for a pop political venue known as the 13th Congressional District. He said he's ready to for hard work. Like roll-up-your-sleeves hard work. Like tender-knuckles-from-all-the-door-knocking hard work. "I'm not a kamikaze," Rooney said. "I'm in this race because Allyson Schwartz is beatable." Current 13th Congressional District Democrat lawmaker Allyson Schwartz just isn't there, Rooney said. "I'm a firm believer in hard work. I believe hard work pays off," Rooney said. "I will work harder and smarter and it will pay off in the end." Letter to the Editor: Pleased With the Voter ID Ruling

Republican candidate Joe Rooney, who is seeking a seat in the 13th Congressional District, chimes in on Wednesday's Voter ID ruling.

Joe Rooney, who is running for a seat in the 13th Congressional District, issued the following statement on Thursday after Commonwealth Court Judge Robert Simpson ruled to uphold the law that requires every Pennsylvania voter to show a valid photo ID before being allowed to vote.  "I applaud the decision of Commonwealth Court Judge Robert Simpson to uphold Pennsylvania’s voter identification law. Judge Simpson concluded in a thoughtful, nonpartisan 70 page decision that the law did not violate the Pennsylvania State Constitution. PA voters now have almost three months to ensure that they possess the necessary identification to vote. Additionally, the law allows voters to cast a provisional ballot which will be counted once the proper ID is…

The premise of the Voter ID law is to reduce the chance of "voter fraud". This is a big load of steaming crap. Since 2000 there have been 10 cases brought for PA courts for voter fraud, 4 have been convicted. PA voter have gone to the pole over 600 million times since then. The only fraud perpetrated here is by the Republican party of PA. Furthermore Mike Turzai, Speaker of the House of PA (R) …   more ›

Rooney Ready For Battle In 13th Congressional District

The economy, national defense and a return to traditional American values spearhead Rooney's campaign for congress

Following his recent endorsement by the Montgomery County Republican Committee, Ardsley resident Joe Rooney is preparing to battle for a seat in the 13th Congressional District in the upcoming November elections. Rooney is a 23-year veteran of the United States Marine Corps and Marine Corps Reserves, where he served as a combat pilot flying both the F-4S Phantom and the F-18 Hornet.  He and his wife, Beth, have five children, and with two of those children currently serving in the military, the inspiration for a congressional campaign became obvious. "I have a daughter in the Navy and my son is a junior in the Air Force Academy, and basically I looked around and decided that if my kids were volunteering to serve and defend the country, …

Kleinman Seeks To 'Occupy' Congressional Seat

Nate Kleinman, 29, of Jenkintown, seeks to oust Allyson Schwartz in the 13th Congressional District

Running on a platform of supporting the middle-class and bringing jobs back to America, 29-year-old Jenkintown resident Nate Kleinman is seeking to secure the Democratic nomination for the 13th Congressional District in the upcoming April primary. Kleinman, who is an active member of Occupy Philadelphia, said a contributing factor in his decision to run was a dissatisfaction with the decisions being made by his current representative, Allyson Schwartz. "There were a number of causes, but mainly, we're going down a path where our very democracy is threatened, and I don't believe that Allyson has been on the right side of a number of issues in Washington that have a direct impact on the character of our country," said Kleinman. Those issues …
