No signs of 100 degree weather in our region for the foreseeable future as a more normal weather pattern takes hold
Our multi-day heat wave mercifully ended with the passage of a cool front through the region to start this week. The front brought that gusty round of thunder on Saturday night that had more wind and lightning to it than raindrops in some locations. We could use the rain as the past three weeks have been a bit dry. One thing we can use—and will get—is a break from the heat that gripped the region recently. No 100 degree temperatures, no mentions of excessive heat warnings, nor any mention of dew points that rival those found in the tropics over the next week. The front that brought our heat wave's demise won't travel too far south of the region, stalling out over the Delmarva and Tidewater area of Virginia, an area that will pick up …

Accuweather.com meteorologist Rob Miller said our area could see between three to six inches of snow tomorrow afternoon and night on unpaved surfaces, and about two to four inches on roadways and sidewalks. “It looks like it’s going to be one of these events,” he said. “It will come in later tonight, early tomorrow morning as rain, but by late in the morning, early afternoon, we will see rain mixed with and changed over to snow.” Miller said there is a possibility of heavy snow in the afternoon and evening hours. “For the most part, the worst will be over by 9 p.m. to 10 p.m., and certainly by 1 a.m. or 2 a.m., everything will be gone and out of the area,” he said. The …

Between 4 to 8 inches is expected to fall between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. By 10 p.m., nearly an inch or more on the ground.
Check back for our contributor and reader-submitted snow pics! We are certain to remember 1-11-11 for the rest of our days. By 6:30 p.m., the snow began to fall at a faster pace and nearly four hours later, most major roads in Montgomeryville and Lansdale are completely snow-covered and not plowed. According to contributor Keith Heffintrayer, of Lansdale, there was a solid mix at 7:15 p.m. Main Street/Welsh Road was clear and side streets were showing a light accumulation. There were some reports of sleet and freezing rain. There were few cars on the road at 9 p.m., and those who braved the weather kept their wheels in the ruts on the road and corrected their skids on the terrible roadways. By midnight, the heaviest snow will hit our …
