The medical services company is located inside the former Lansdale Florist at Valley Forge Road and West Main Street. The owner wishes to attach the building to the twin on the same parcel, in order to expand the business
The owners of Unique Aid, the medical and non-medical person assistance company that took over the location of Lansdale Florist, received a recommendation from Lansdale Planning Commission Monday night for council to approve its preliminary and final land development. Andrey and Yulia Chayka, through Andlia LLC, want to attach the two-and-a-half-stor building housing Unique Aid (859-861 W. Main St.) to the two-and-a-half-story twin (855-857 W. Main St.) located on the same parcel. In doing this, it will expand the size of Unique Aid, according to architect Joe Del Ciotto. Planning Commission Solicitor Joe Clement, of Wisler Pearlstine, LLP, said the addition would be 41 square feet. Unique Aid offers medical and non-medical personal …

The Lansdale Communications Commission chairman, the Economic Development Committee chairwoman and the Lansdale borough manager weigh in on the next steps in the branding initiative
With the branding package in effect in Lansdale Borough, various departments will begin incorporating parts of the brand narrative into their daily structure. For instance, the code enforcement department has begun using the logo as watermarks on interoffice memos. In the next couple of weeks, it will look at purchasing new clothing with the new logo, as other pieces of attire wear out. Few borough council members are still confused as to the branding initiative; it is not something to be approved by council — thereby restricting the borough to its logo, the "Life in Motion" tagline and various other aspects of the narrative. The brand is to be implemented via numerous recommendations by North Star Destination Strategies, and spearheaded …

The 174-townhome development will be located across from Stony Creek Park on a triangular parcel bounded by Hancock Street, Stony Creek rails and SEPTA rails
The 174-townhome development to be known as Andale Green received the final land development approval from Lansdale Borough Council Nov. 28 in a unanimous vote. "Congratulations Jim. Best of luck," said Councilman Dan Dunigan to Jim Moulton, prinicipal of Moulton Builders in Lansdale. Last month, the Lansdale Planning Commission gave its final OK on the development. The entire triangular parcel across from Stony Creek Park on Hancock Street will be developed — it spans from the Stony Creek tracks at Hancock Street all the way to the SEPTA tracks, and down Line Street and behind East Mt. Vernon Avenue/Prospect Avenue. Moulton will contribute $75,000 to Lansdale’s future traffic improvements, if needed, related to a traffic light at Line and…

The eyesore across from Stony Creek Park on Hancock Street in Lansdale is ready for some drastic changes after Monday night. The entire triangular parcel will be developed — it spans from the Stony Creek tracks at Hancock Street all the way to the SEPTA tracks, and down Line Street and behind East Mt. Vernon Avenue/Prospect Avenue. Moulton will contribute $75,000 to Lansdale’s future traffic improvements, if needed, related to a traffic light at Line and Hancock streets, according to Sokil. The general fund for 2013 will have a $6,000 surplus
Montgomery Township Supervisors Monday approved advertisement of an $11.8 million budget, with no tax increase for 2013, and a $6,160 surplus. The budget will be adopted at the Dec. 17 meeting. Montgomery Township has not had a tax increase for more than nine years. In 2006, supervisors reduced the millage rate from 1.61 mills to 1.49 mills. Homestead exemption remains at $30,000. Finance Director Shannon Drosnock said more than 75 percent of property owners participate in the homestead exemption program, totaling $308,000 in annual tax relief. Total revenues in the 2013 budget are 3.4 percent higher than in 2012 — $11,872,320 compared to $11,481,685. Of those total revenues, $9.5 million are tax revenues, which are up 2.9 percent from …

The board approved a variance to allow an LED sign in the borough for the Catholic school on Lansdale Avenue. Lansdale Borough will also have availability of the sign to broadcast emergency messages to the public
A new LED sign for Lansdale Catholic will soon replace the old sign at Lansdale Avenue and Seventh Street — and it will allow Lansdale Borough use of the sign to notify commuters and residents in emergency situations. The zoning board unanimously approved 3-0 the request for a variance from LC and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to allow the sign, contingent upon the sign does not blink, animate or scroll; does not move from its location or change in size; does not change type on average of no more than once a day; and Lansdale Catholic does allow it to be available to the borough for emergency messages. Representing Attorney Frank Bartle told the board the sign would replace the existing sign and remain the same size. The LED message …

Residents of Forest Avenue, Highland Avenue and East Main Street wanted council to table the vote on a preliminary/final land development on the Lansdale Collaborative Project until officials addressed the entranceway from Forest Avenue
They tried to stop it with 41 names on a petition. They have attended numerous public safety committee meetings and planning commission meetings for months to get their concerns resolved. They came out in full force Wednesday night and requested Lansdale Borough Council deny and table a vote on preliminary and final land development approval for the YMCA/PEAK Center/Advanced Living Communities/Manna on Main Street project — at least until all resident concerns are addressed. All they wanted was a restriction on the entrance into the property from Forest Avenue, which has served as one since as long as Lans-Bowl and the North Penn YMCA have been in existence. Yet, the efforts of the residents of Forest Avenue, Highland Avenue and East Main …

Montgomery Flex Charter School wants to open in the Hillcrest Shopping Center, serving students in grades seven to 12
By tomorrow night, North Penn School District parents and students will know whether or not a charter school is coming to the district. The school board will vote on the application of Montgomery Flex Charter School, which looks to open at Hillcrest Shopping Center in Lansdale Borough. At present, there are 75 students on the pre-enrollee list. “This is far beyond my expectations for how many would be interested at this time, so we are off to a great start,” said Tim Sager, founder of Charter Initiatives Inc. and director of school development at k12 Inc. If the school board denies the application, Sager said in an e-mail that the effort to bring a charter school to the district would continue. “If it is a ‘yes,’ we will continue to work …

Prompted by a resident's email, the Lansdale Library Committee will be gathering information on opening a coffeehouse or cafe inside the library
Grande café mocha and “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” anyone? Coffee and Kerouac? The Lansdale Library Committee has begun discussions on how to bring a café or coffeehouse into Lansdale Library. The idea was prompted by an email sent in December by resident George Kopena to former councilwoman and committee member Anne Scheuring. In the email, Kopena asked about the library renting a space to Starbucks or a similar business. Committee member and new councilman Steve Malagari also inquired about a café during a recent tour of the library. Committee member Mike Sobel asked if a café was feasible in the library. Director Tom Meyer said it was, as there is enough space in the library for such an amenity. Committee member Mary Fuller …
