North Penn School Safety Forum Reveals Changes, Shortcomings

Led by North Penn Safe Schools Coordinator Ray Wilson, a forum Monday night on school safety, in the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy, presented what's keeping students safe and what's going to make them safer

Some things were revealed Monday night at a school safety forum at North Penn High School that informed parents what's keeping their children safe and what's being scrutinized to make them safer. Namely, the possibility of an armed, trained and certified security guard at the high school. Parents also discovered that there is an absence of staffed security at the elementary schools, as North Penn High School and the middle schools are viewed as facilities with higher than average (and older) troublemakers. Specifics of security measures at the schools in the district were generalized, as not to jeopardize them, said Superintendent Curt Dietrich. One Dead Following SWAT Situation in Montgomery Township

Unidentified man allegedly threatened his mother with a handgun, causing her to flee the home, then took his own life; Village at Neshaminy Falls cordoned off by police for much of Wednesday afternoon

A lengthy police standoff prompted by a domestic dispute in Montgomery Township ended Wednesday afternoon with the discovery that a 47-year-old township man had taken his own life. Montgomery Township police said the man, whom they did not identify, had pointed a handgun at his mother following an argument Wednesday morning. The man's mother arrived at the township police department at about 10:30 a.m., police said, and informed them of the situation. She told police that she had been unable to call 9-1-1 because her son had disconnected the telephone at the residence and threatened her with the gun when she attempted to reconnect it. Citizen's Bank Robbed Wednesday Morning in Richland

A heavyset white male, wearing a tank top and shorts, demanded money from a teller Wednesday morning at Citizen's Bank in Richland Crossings

The Citizen's Bank Richland Crossings Shopping Center in Richland Township, Bucks County, was robbed Wednesday morning. A white male with buzz-cut brown hair, wearing blue shorts and a gray tank top walked into the bank around 10:52 a.m. and told a teller he was armed, according to police frequency dialogue. His arms, legs, chest and face were exposed, according to Matt Coughlin of PhillyBurbs.com. The robber was given a red dye pack, which exploded. According to the article, the suspect is about 6 feet tall and weighs 200 pounds.
