Lansdale Police have arrested a second suspect in the September 2011 armed robbery of Famous Grocery convenience store in Lansdale. Mark S. Williams Jr., 21, of the 800 block of West Fifth Street, Lansdale, was arrested Wednesday and charged in connection to the September 5, 2011 robbery at 21 W. Main St. His alleged accomplice, Jurell Smalls, was arrested September 22 and charged in connection with the robbery, police said. Smalls was also charged with felony drug violations in a separate arrest during a search warrant service on his home. Montgomery Township Police nabbed Cleveland Ford Jr. two weeks ago for his alleged role in the armed robbery of three LumenOptix employees on March 30, 2012. Now, police said they have his alleged accomplice — Pau Chau, 25, of Philadelphia. Chau was arrested by Montgomery Township Police on August 30 on the following charges: Chau was arraigned Aug. 30 before District Judge Andrea Duffy, who set bail at $100,000 cash, according to court records. Chau remains incarcerated at Montgomery County Prison in lieu of bail. A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 10 at 2 p.m. before Duffy. Cleveland Ford Jr. is charged with 14 offenses, including eight felonies, in connection with an armed robbery outside LumenOptix, 203 Progress Drive: Ford Jr. was arraigned before District Judge Andrea Duffy on August 13. A pedestrian was robbed by two suspects at Seventh Street and Maple Avenue in Lansdale Wednesday afternoon
A pedestrian was assaulted and robbed of his backpack by two men at around 2:30 p.m. in Lansdale at Seventh Street and Maple Avenue. Both suspects remain at-large, according to police. Sgt. Mike Trail of Lansdale Police told The Reporter that two suspects were detained by police: one at the train station and the other outside Walgreens at West Main Street and Valley Forge Road. Both suspects told the police they were not involved, were eliminated as suspects and were released, according to The Reporter. According to Trail in the article, one suspect fled the scene on foot towards the Lansdale train station, and the other left the scene in a White Ford vehicle. Update, Monday, June 4, 2012 Lansdale Police have issued a press release Monday with additional details on the armed robbery June 1 of Rani's Indian Deli and Quick Way Food Mart. Police responded at 9:50 p.m. to the business for a report of a panic alarm activation, police said. Upon arrival, police spoke with the owner and a customer who stated a black male wearing a black mask, black hoodie, black pants and black sneakers entered the store and pointed a gun at the owner, police said. Two men reportedly escaped on foot with cash.
Police thronged downtown Lansdale on Monday evening following the reported armed robbery of a Main Street convenience store. According to sources, two men armed with a gun held up the Famous Grocery & Convenience Store at 21 W. Main St. The men took an undisclosed amount of cash from the store clerk, who was believed to also be the owner of the store. A source with knowledge of the investigation said that the suspects fled the scene on foot. Initial reports described the suspects as two white males.
