BMW Recalls All Last-Gen 5 and 6 Series Cars

A malfunctioning battery cable cover in the trunk could cause a problem, but the fix is free.

BMW said on Monday that it is recalling all BMW 5 and 6 Series models of the previous generation built between 2003 and 2010. According to the press release, “In some remote cases, the battery cable cover inside the boot of these vehicles may be incorrectly mounted." The problem could result in the electrical system malfunctioning, the vehicle failing to start and, in some cases, charring or fire, the press release continued. Customers will be notified in writing. The repair is free and takes about 30 minutes. The recall includes the E60 and E61 5 Series, and the E63 and E64 6 Series. About 1.3 million cars worldwide are affected. According to CNN, this equates to about 367,000 cars in the U.S. There have been no accidents or injuries as a…
