Montgomeryville-Lansdale Patch scoured bars, 24-hour retail stores and convenience stores between midnight and 3 a.m. to gauge how people felt about bin Laden's death.
Within an hour of the announcement of the death of Osama bin Laden, Montgomeryville-Lansdale Patch went out to gauge local reaction from people at Third and Walnut Bar, Montella’s Pub, CVS at Allentown and Forty Foot roads, Wawa on Forty Foot Road, Wawa on Route 309 in Colmar, 7-11 on Allentown Road and 7-11 at Cannon Avenue and Main Street. Reaction was mixed, with some reveling in the victory of the United States and demanding we bring home our troops. One resident had a total opposite reaction. “Honestly, I couldn’t care less,” said Keith Hender, of Hatfield. “It never really bothered me in the first place. I’ve lived in this country all my life, but in the general consensus of the world, which I happen to agree with, the United States …

The Lansdale Borough Public Safety Committee reviewed a second 5K route proposed as a fundraiser. Police Chief McDyre said it would strip the manpower for the evening.
It’s back to the drawing board again for the North Penn YMCA and Panico’s, as the Lansdale Borough Public Safety Committee Wednesday night asked them to work out a different route for a proposed 5K Walk and Run in August. There were two problems with the event, as emphasized by Lansdale Police Chief Robert McDyre. First, the route would strip the police of all its manpower on a Wednesday evening – four officers – to control the event. Second, the route would call for a closing of Valley Forge Road and numerous detours – both, according to McDyre, would cause problems. Betty Hoffa, of the North Penn YMCA, said the 5K Run and Walk would be co-sponsored by the YMCA and Panico’s. The planned route winds through Lansdale Borough and neighboring…

Here are places to go and things to do alone or with the family to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
You don’t have to be Irish to have fun this St. Patty’s Day. Everyone is Irish once a year on March 17, the day St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated in honor of the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick. He lived in the 400s A.D. and it is believed that he died on March 17. Although St. Patrick’s Day originated in Ireland, it is celebrated around the world, and it is sure to excite the kids. Whether keeping the younger kids at home, or sending the older ones off to school, encourage them to get dressed in green to represent the beautiful rolling green Irish terrain. There are so many things associated with St. Patty’s Day, making it easy to find a variety of activities to do with your children. Clovers, leprechauns and gold, luck, kissing the…
