Boasting made-from-scratch food and 100-plus beers, the independently-owned Red Cedar Grille and Cocktails in Colmar, Hatfield Township wants to bring back reasonable family dining in a non-chain-restaurant atmosphere with no cookie-cutter foods.
Theo Charitos and his father Dino saw a need one day for a new independent restaurant in the North Penn region. In October 2012, they purchased the vacant property at 249 Bethlehem Pike in Colmar, Hatfield Township that once served as the home for Wingwalker Pub and The Inn Flight for over nearly a half-cenutry and renovated it into something new—Red Cedar Grille & Cocktails. Prior to the purchase, Theo was working at the now-closed The Drafting Room in Lower Gwynedd. He also spent time in kitchens in Spring House and Exton. Dennis Kee, 15, of Cindy Lane, Hatfield, was hit by a vehicle near Mill Drive and Route 309 Friday night. He was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital Saturday morning.
A Hatfield teenager was pronounced dead early Saturday morning at the emergency department of the Lehigh Valley Hospital Cedar Crest campus, according to the Lehigh County Coroner. Dennis T. Kee, 15, of the 1700 block of Cindy Lane, Hatfield, was struck by a car around 11:32 p.m. Friday on Route 309/Bethlehem Pike near Mill Road, according to the coroner's office and police reports. KYW Newsradio reported that Kee was walking with four friends on the side of the roadway prior to the accident. He was transported to Lehigh Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 12:35 a.m. His death has reportedly been ruled accidental by the Montgomery County Coroner's office. New donation processing center helps keeps all Impact Thrift stores stocked.
Impact Thrift Stores, with a store in Montgomeryville, has opened a new corporate center, which includes the corporate processing and recycling center. The new center opened in November and all processing - sorting, cleaning, tagging - of donating items happens here. Jill Tarabar, Assistant Director of Business Development, said the new center steam lines the processing process, and helps keep each store stock with what their customers are looking for. For instance, if the Montgomeryville store is low on women's size 10 pants, they can have more shipped to them. Montgomery Township Supervisors approved a conditional use application at a hearing Monday night, bringing the 10-pump gas station and convenience store to Bethlehem Pike near Five Points intersection.
A 10-pump, 24-hour gas station and 5,000-square-foot convenience store is coming to the Five Points intersection area after a conditional use approval Monday night by Montgomery Township Supervisors following a public hearing, according to Dan Sokil of The Reporter. The 2.236-acre property at 741 Bethlehem Pike is located on the northbound side of Route 309 and southbound Horsham Road, near the Five Points intersection; it formerly housed businesses such as Golf Etc., Superstarz Kidz Salon and Mattress Giant, according to a January The Reporter article. O'Grady Quinlan Academy of Irish Dance, which has opened a new location in Hilltown Township, teaches competitive Irish dance.
O'Grady Quinlan Academy of Irish Dance, a teaching and competitive Irish dancing school with their main location in Bethlehem, has a new location in Hilltown Township on Bethlehem Pike near Hatfield. Teacher Teresa Hesener said the school opened in Harleysville in September, but shortly thereafter moved to Hilltown. The school, which teaches children ages 4 to 25 Irish dance and regularly sends dancers to the regionals, nationals and world championship Irish dance competitions, has approximately 150 families at their Bethlehem location and 20 dancers at their Hilltown location. An indeterminate amount of diesel fuel had leaked into a Montgomery storm drain on Monday afternoon following a collision between a tractor-trailer and a pickup truck at the intersection of Bethlehem Pike and Upper State Road. Personnel from the Montgomery Township Public Works department and the Fire Department of Montgomery Township had attempted to soak up some of the fuel spill with sand and could be seen accessing the sewer through a manhole. A Lansdale man, who allegedly held a former jailmate at knifepoint and threatened to kill him, is headed to Montgomery County court following a preliminary hearing Monday, reports The Reporter. Benjamin Thomas Moore III, 40, allegedly assaulted a man inside a Hatfield Township home on the 800 block of Bethlehem Pike on Oct. 20, police said. Moore had been a resident of the home prior to going to jail, and he was allegedly mad at the victim for using Moore’s belongings while Moore was in jail, police said.
