A Montgomery Neighborhood Thanksgiving Football Tradition

The Reporter's Brian Bingaman covered a second annual event on Newport Lane that brought out adults and youth for a neighborhood Thanksgiving Day football match

The Reporter’s Brian Bingaman covered a unique Thanksgiving football tradition this week, and it didn’t involve North Penn Knights, Lansdale Catholic or the Detroit Lions. For the second year, a neighborhood Turkey Bowl football game took place on Newport Lane in Montgomery Township Thanksgiving Day. The neighborhood event brought out about 20 adults and youths to a cul-de-sac backyard. The story featured comments from residents Seana Hogan, Rahul Thevar and Alexis Beverly. Borough residents packed Main Street for a night of food, music, and art

Hundreds hit the streets of West Main Street Friday night for Lansdale's June First Friday event. Vendors showed off their wares and gave out free swag. Bands and musicians kept the lively vibe moving for the night and people danced along. Restauranteurs kept peoples' stomachs filled with their special delicacies. First Friday at the North Penn YMCA

People gather for the First Friday event at the North Penn YMCA with many attractions for all ages.

It was another successful First Friday for North Penn Community Network and the Borough of Lansdale. Between January and March, First Friday is moved from the cold outdoors to the warm indoors of the North Penn YMCA. Featured attractions during First Friday included free admission to the YMCA, free babysitting and free open swim. Musicians included Brian Bingaman of Raspberry Tea, Split Horizon, Elite Strings and Chet Smith. The main stage featured Irish dancers, DJ Ryan, drum solos and a Kid's Dance Party. The Lounge featured free massages, a hip-hop dance class and a family yoga class. Tigger and Pooh met and greeted children at the Kid's Zone, where children bounced around in a Moon Bounce.
